What exactly is the Mantell Syndicate?

The Mantell Syndicate is a role-playing (RP) guild operating out of the 'Lord Adraas' server in the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. This particular guild believes that there is more to Star Wars than Jedi and Sith duking it out with light sabers.  We focus on the activities of the 'seedier' side of the Star Wars galaxy in the Old Republic Time line.  Therefore, you'll see more 'Han Solo' types here than 'Luke Skywalker'.  In fact, you will find very few player-driven force-using characters in our guild and even those only with special permission.

The stories and RP in this guild all take place in the time period of the Star Wars Galaxy known as "The Old Republic" - roughly 3,500 years before the movies we all know so well.   (You can read more about the period and the guild's own personal timeline in our history section.)  The Syndicate itself is a secret smuggling organization operating beneath the 'legitimate' front company of  "Corellian Transports and Exports".  It has operated with growing success for hundreds of years.  It's main base of operations is on the planet Ord Mantell (hence it's name) though it has many smaller operational bases scattered across much of known space.  Members of the guild are assumed to be freelancers (or even full employees) under contract to the Syndicate itself.
