1) Have you made yourself familiar with our site, our history, our purpose, our rules (both OOC and IC), and restrictions (must be 18+ years of age) and agree to abide by them?
I have!
2) Are you comfortable with a heavy RP environment?
I am!
3) While we don't require you to be a lore expert, how comfortable are you with the lore surrounding the Star Wars genre and in particular, this time period (The Old Republic) of the lore?
I've played through KOTOR, and parts of SWTOR, but have no other exposure to the Old Republic setting. I do try to make good use of the wikis when background info is needed though.
4) Give us a summary (at least 1-2 Paragraphs) of your character. Please include things such as race, age, physical description, and any other information that gives us an idea of his/her personality, skill sets, and what drives your character. Also include what skills/talents your character might have that would make the Syndicate interested in them. Use the character worksheet below as a guide: (Also, bear in mind that we are not accepting any force-using characters at this time.)
Please see below, particularly the 'Adulthood' section I added. In brief, Gaelan is a smart-aleck who likes to play cops and robbers. He's probably smart enough to play the investing game and make a tidy sum, but he's drawn by the allure of the criminal underworld, and the pursuit of the ultimate profit.

Character Worksheet
Physical Description:
Name: Gaelan Shaw Fletcher
Phonetic Name: ga(e)-lan shaw fleh-chur
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Hair: Light brown. Tends to be pretty wavy on its own. His bangs rest just above the eyebrows, and lets the back grow down to the ears.
Eyes: Dark brown in color, with a swirl of forest green mixed in for good measure. Hazel, to put it simply.
Skin Tone/Complexion: The high levels of ozone on Coruscant and a life spent mostly in the lower sectors of the city keep his skin fairly pale, but Gaelan’s been known to develop a light tan when the opportunity to see an unhindered sun arises.
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 183 lb
Scars: Nothing particularly impressive. He sports a blaster wound or two that haven’t fully healed on his chest and arms, but modern medicine has made him more or less intact. He’ll spin quite the tale about the few thin-lined marks if you let him though. More so if you lack a Y chromosome.
Tattoos: A detailed set of silver Nautolan characters that purportedly spell “Strength” on his right shoulder, though neither Gaelan nor the tattoo artist were fluent in the Nautolan tongue. The decision was made under the influence of several substances, and Gaelan has never braved to investigate the true meaning of the characters under more sober conditions. Regardless of their actual meaning, he finds them quite attractive (as he does with most things about himself).
Build: After an awkward period of being a long and lanky teenager, Gaelan has begun to fill out his six foot frame. There’s some muscle there, and it’s clear he’s getting some form of exercise that his (now) predominantly sedentary career doesn’t require, but Gaelan’s no Mr. Universe. Medically speaking, he’s got a pretty normal body-mass index for a human.
Left/Right Handed: Right-handed.
Commonly Worn Clothing: Gaelan is somewhat of a celebrity in certain (small) circles for his eclectic tastes in clothes. He proudly wears his personally tailored dark red pants, which he often pairs with a blue jacket and boots. His clothes are functional for his profession, lined with many pockets to store his technical doodads, chits, business cards, and other necessities for the self-employed.
Other Misc. Physical Descriptors: Gaelan occasionally experiments with growing out his stubble, but his efforts are sophomoric. The result make him look about as grizzled as an Alderaanian peach.
Background:
Birthplace: Shion Uzuki Clinic - A small, primarily volunteer-run medical facility on the middle-levels of Coruscant approximately fifty kilometers from the senate complex.
Named For/After: A brand of bread popular on Coruscant among the working class and sandwich aficionados. Gaelan’s Gigabread - Ten nutrients, infinite flavor! Gaelan’s mother has never acknowledged the inspiration for his namesake, and allows him to continue thinking he was named after the famous crashball player Gaelan “Condor” O’Carragher.
Childhood: Son of the most popular waitress at Wally’s Waffles and Other Things, Gaelan grew up in a single-parent, working class home on a just-above-the-bottom level of Coruscant. Gaelan’s behavior was pretty turbulent throughout his youth, and warranted several interventions with both school officials, and later, local law enforcement. His trouble-making was tolerated by his mother, who emotionally pampered him in order to make up for her inability to provide the same level of support financially. Gaelan was fascinated by the underground lifestyle from the very beginning, first getting the idea from cheesy cartoons depicting street-smart teenage gang members embarking on colorful, less-than-law abiding adventures for half an hour every Saturday morning. The allure wasn’t lost when opportunities to join actual gangs in his teenage years opened up.
Adulthood: Gaelan fell in with one of the large gangs based out of the lower levels during one of their large ‘recruiting parties’ when he was seventeen. Although many young men his age were forced into service by gambling, boozing, or otherwise losing their chits at these parties, Gaelan’s intention was to join from the onset. He often neglects to mention this detail to those who ask, and insists he too was ‘fooled’ into an unpayable debt of service to gang leader Fyaar.
Shortly after his own arrival into the gang, Gaelan met future friend Tyron Stryder. The two teens shared several common interests (mostly anatomical in nature) and became fast friends. The two partnered on many smuggling operations, at first on a local level, and later were entrusted with more lucrative ventures off world. With little in the way of formal training, Gaelan relied on his perceived image of the criminal world as a model for honing the skills necessary for this profession, and thousands of beer cans were slaughtered mercilessly as he built his blaster repertoire.
After four years in the gangs, neither man had advanced particularly far within the organization’s leadership structure. While Gaelan was still drawn to the gang’s kill-or-be-killed world, Fyaar left a lot to be desired as a leader. Cocky enough to think he could do things better on his own, Gaelan concocted a plan with his (literal) partner in crime to embezzle a significant amount of funds from the gang’s coffers, cheese it, and embark on their own ventures. The plan was fairly successful, though it wasn’t long before Fyaar took notice. Gaelan and Tyron separated to muddle the trail.
Gaelan’s trail went cold. It led to Hoth. He remained there for a little over six months, using the credits he stole from the gang to invest in various less-than-legal schemes, along with a few legitimate purchases on the Republic Exchange. Both led him to marginal success (after several, hard failures), and he quickly learned the ins and outs of both markets. By the end of his period of hiding, Gaelan had made back what he’d originally lost, and enough extra to purchase a small shuttle for himself.
After contacting Tyron out of hiding, Gaelan learned that Fyaar had been killed, and the search for them had been called off. He continued to grow his portfolios, now on the Nar Shaddaa exchange, but spent most of the profits on immediate gratification rather than reinvesting. Though he had little interest in immediately falling back in line with another organization, Gaelan got his adventurous fix by starting a small, ‘consulting’ business, which typically involved negotiating hostile trades, smuggling, and anything else that might require a blaster.
The two ventures have allowed him to pay his tab, though boredom has begun to set in. He has his eye on a bigger payout, but realizes that it’s unlikely he’ll be able to pull off any of his schemes without a larger organization backing him. He’s ready to get back into the underground game again, with the ultimate goal of using whatever organization he’s a part of to make the ultimate heist.
Parenting Style: My child can do no wrong.
Result of Parenting: Child does (mostly) everything wrong.
Siblings: Sidney Fletcher - Half-sister - Two years younger than Gaelan. Her path has been far more straight and narrow, and she’s purportedly made somewhat of a name for herself as a junior office in the local law agency on Coruscant.
Spouse/Lover: Frequently changing. Interested?
Children: None that have been proven to belong to him in a court of law.
Spoken Languages: Galactic Basic
Written Languages: Galactic Basic
Favorite Uttered Saying: “That’s what she said.” Also, anything that makes a joke at Tyron’s expense.
Drinks: Yup
Smokes: Favors the standard blends, but willing to try just about anything.
Favorite Foods: Simple foods. Things you’d find in a diner or bar. He likes waffles, but only craves the kind from Wally’s. Food isn’t something he’s adventurous with - his tastebuds favor the familiar.
Favorite Drinks: Fond of hoppy beers and gin and tonic. Whiskey is another favorite, but typically reserved for situations where insobriety is a must.
Speech quirks: Tends to drop his g’s when using the present participle.
Personality Qualities: Gaelan has a tendency to seem quite full of himself. It’s hard to tell how much of this is an extroverted act, and how much is genuinely believed. His ego hovers between confidence and semi-self-aware narcissism. He would call this his ‘charm’. Despite this, he’s perfectly equipped to socialize in a friendly manner with those who choose to tolerate his cockiness. He’s loyal, in his own way, to a select few. Although he’s accustomed to criminal life, he’s not comfortable harming innocents unnecessarily. He won’t readily reveal this fact, in order to preserve the image of himself that he projects. Gaelan likes to play cops and robbers - but he’s occasionally bothered when he remembers it’s not just pretend.
Personality Flaws: Cockiness, selfishness, and a tendency toward delusions of grandeur - both financially, and socially. He resists vice poorly.
Profession: Small-time investor focusing primarily on the Nar Shaddaa exchange. Also supports himself with freelance ‘consulting’ work.
Skill Sets: Money-sense. He’s got a way with chits, and would probably be a more successful investor if he didn’t immediately squander his winnings on booze and boobs. Gaelan’s conceived many well thought-out plans to achieve the ‘ultimate payout’, but is limited by his current resources, and the lack of an organization to back him. He’s a decent gunner, better than his long-time gang companion Tyron, by both men’s admission. He flies his own ship, so he’s a serviceable pilot. He’s also [color=#990000great in the sack[/color]. Can I list that here?
Hobbies: Drinking, gambling, and other forms of debauchery. Also Space-Sudoku.
Religious Beliefs: Naw...church would really cut into his sitting around time.
Motivations/Emotions:
Primary Drive (What makes your character go?):
Fiscal or social success. Gaelan’s always been attracted to the grungy glamour of criminal activity, even though he’s well aware that more legitimate livelihoods are often more profitable. He’s motivated by personal gain, but more importantly, he’s driven to fulfill his image of himself - to become the most respected of the unrespectables.
How Does Your Character Deal With Certain Emotions? What drives them to certain emotions?
Love: Familial - Bashful acceptance; Other - Disinterest
Happiness: Over-indulgence.
Lust: Pursuit!
Anger: Caustic rebuke.
Hate: Tactical vengeance.
Fear: Forced confidence.
Sadness: Determined ignorance.
Way of Things:
Fight/Flight/Panic: Fight
Sassy/Casual/Cold: Sassily casual
Introvert/Extrovert: Extrovert
Calm/Eccentric: Eccentric
Alcoholic/Sober: Alcoholic
Social/Reserved: Social
Lover/Fighter: Fighter

5) While we are focused on role-playing, we also develop many personal OOC friendships in this guild as well. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your previous experience in role-playing/MMO's? Tell us briefly about your history with/attraction to Star Wars?
I am getting ready to graduate from grad school this week! Although I've been playing SWTOR since launch, I've not had time to invest in any sort of major roleplaying effort here due to school and other commitments. With school ending, I expect that to change. When not gaming, I enojy running, rock climbing, and slowly working on my chainmail hauberk project.
I've been playing MMOs since Everquest, and technically (although I was ten at the time) started roleplaying then. I also 'accidentally' RP'ed in Anarchy Online and Final Fantasy XI, and didn't realize that what I was doing had a name until I started playing Star Wars Galaxies. Since then I've been RPing in Everquest 2, and most recently, Lord of the Rings Online, and classify myself as a 'heavy' RPer.
My experiences with both SWG and SWTOR have definitely fostered an appreciation for the Star Wars universe. I tend to prefer futuristic RP settings over fantasy, and Star Wars certainly has a diverse and well-developed universe to interact within.
6) For our own use: How did you hear about us and what made you decide to apply? ((If you heard about us via the SW:TOR forums and/or have a username there - please include it here.))
I'm good friends with Tyron, as my application suggests. I'm a former Red Arrow on the Landroval server in Lord of the Rings Online, so I (believe) I know several people who are still here. Also, I applied previously, though it was around three years ago. I wasn't able to keep up with forum RP while simultaneously running a kinship in LotRO and trying to survive in school. But now that I'll be graduating, I expect to have some more free time.
I'm definitely attracted to the heavy RP atmosphere, but more importantly, I think the Syndicate is a guild that will fit Gaelan well. He's definitely a scoundrel, but he's not psychopathically criminal. I believe he will fall somewhere within the spectrum of personalities I've seen already from MS, and hope to continue to evolve him here.
Welcome back, Caladyn.
Your application is a bit different since you're already an approved operative. At this point this application is more of an 'introduce your character' thread. People can weigh in, but assuming there's nothing about your character that violates the lore/genre of the Syndicate (and I don't currently see anything that would), it's a technicality. Ask someone on the msooc channel to invite you to the guild you when you're next in game.
